Probably to do with the closure fees the building socs and banks charge. They’ve been told to get their house in order.

Yes, that’s right. Many companies were marking a charge - about £200-300 - for releasing the deeds to your house once the mortgage was paid up ! Unbelievable, really. They called it “admin” and it was in consideration of them having to go to the trouble of going to their filing system, finding the title deeds to your own house, which they had been holding, and mailing them on to you!
